View Full Version : iPod dilemna
So I have a 40 GB iPod (with the gray wheel - those in the know call it the 4G). Cost me $400 when it came out. Apple just released their 30 GB iPod photo. After student discount, I can get it for $320.
My plan? Sell the 40 GB on eBay and get a 30 GB photo. Whuddaya think?

Why? Just so you can see small pictures and loose 10GB?
If it could play MPEG-4 files I would go for it. But it can't, not yet at least.

I dunno, sounds like a good deal to me. I don't find the color very necessary, but it's certainly a plus if you can get the discount.
I love my 10GB 2G iPod, but I wish it had solitaire.

Is 2G the one with the buttons above the wheel?

Problem with your plan:
Can you actually get $320 for a used IPod that isn't "the hippest, hottest" version of IPod out? Sure - when you bought it, it was $400. Technological gadgets degrade, pricewise, at an inauspicious rate.

Keep your current iPod. If you're that interested in the photo feature, I'd just save up for a digital camera, which will let you take higher quality pictures.
Honestly, I find the iPod "extras" a bit annoying. I'd rather use the space for another song than be able to play solitaire on my iPod.

I agree with Nadine. I was going to sell my 800 MHz iBook ($1099) for a 1 GHz iBook ($999), but then I realized that I would probably only get about $600 in exchange. Unless you don't mind spending a few more dollars, stick with what you have.
Well, mostly I'd use it for Solitaire (I play Solitaire all the time in my school). I've played color Solitaire, and it rocks. And about getting enough money for it, the normal iPod they sell now is $300, which has half the space of mine. I think someone would buy it.

All the extra features can be deleted. But you only save like, 40KB. Maybe 100KB with the color.

Yes, but that actually takes effort. I want these things to conform to my tastes by default. ;)

I've always wanted an iPod, but they are so fucking exspensive.
You get what you pay for, though.
