these are some really great films maybe you haven't seen, organized by filmmaker:

Todd Solondz- all of these films are dark comedies

Welcome to the Dollhouse
Happiness (quite possibly the funniest film i have ever seen. ever.)
Storytelling

Harmony Korine- kids is just a good film, the others heavily experiment with film as a storytelling medium and many scenes are simply just "things the director wanted to see on film"

Kids
Gummo
Juilen Donkey-boy

David Lynch- you probably know this guy as the wacko who made the television series "Twin Peaks." he's done more than what i list here, but they aren't my favorites.

Erasorhead
The Elephant Man
Mulhulland Drive

go see them.

Wow. Finally someone with a good taste in movies. Happiness was fucking histerical. At least there are filmmakers out there with balls.

hmm. if you're looking for a good movie that you haven't seen, see Doctor Zivagho. it chronicles a man's life throughout the Russian Revolution.

I believe you mean Dr. ZHivago. (one of my fave movies, I need to be perfect about it)

The one with Omar Sharif and Julie Christie anyways....that rocked my socks.....David Lean is one of my favorite directors.....(he also did Lawrence of Arabia, etc......)

(I heard someone, somewhere did a remake, but I can't be bothered to see that one)

Dr. Strangelove is good, and how can I get these movies? I doubt my Hollywood video carries them.

That's one thing I'll say about Ireland. We've got loads of little video and dvd shops that sell almost anything.
