Gene Kelly disappeared from his Pine Bush home on Oct. 24, and the wayward guard llama has been on the lam ever since.
"It's been hard. We've pretty much given up on finding him," said Theresa Gruenhagen, the llama's owner, who runs the Hagen Heights Alpaca Farm in Pine Bush with her husband.
Still, Gruenhagen said she hopes he'll find his way home.
"As long as the hunters didn't get him, he's got a chance," she said. "Hopefully, he just bedded down somewhere for winter."
Gene is strapping 350-pound 6-footer with a long neck, a white chest and longish hair hanging down in brown and black patches over his body.
The last sighting was three weeks ago by a deer hunter in Bullville. But a search of the wooded area yielded no results.
If you see the missing llama, call the Hagen Heights Alpaca Farm at 733-5753 or state police in Kingston at 331-7017.
He's not dead. Just on the run.
FROM THE LAW.
