i think that the wildcard, along with regular-season interleague play, should be banished from all of baseball. i am sure that you will agree with me, davey.

But then two less teams can say they made the playoffs each year! And the playoioffs will be two whole weeks shorter, leaving nothing to watch on TV for those two extra weeks until football starts to get good.

it'll be roughly 8 teams in each division fighting for a playoff spot, instead of 5. and of course, there will be HORRIBLE division lumpings. Do you remeber the Braves in the NL West, while St. Louis and Cinncinnati played in the East?

"Oh no way! The braves are quite close to the atlantic ocean," you may say. "and they are FAR more eastern on a map than St. Louis." But they got lumped in with heavy travel to the western half of the united states. thank goodness that ended in 1993.

Then again, the division lumpings are pretty horrible now. well, unbalanced, at least, with 4 teams in the AL west, and 6 in the NL Central. the NL has two more teams than the AL, as well. What's next? Baseball in Las Vegas? Portland? Mexico? New Orleans?
