Hey, for those of you that have the freakin' "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" sountrack, I ask a favor from you or something. I really liked a song called, "Wheels In Motion". I THINK this is the song you hear at the beginning of the movie, while you watch the chocolate being made. If it isn't, then SCREW the "Wheels In Motion" song and give me the one from the beggining. If you have not realized by now, I WANT THE SONG FROM THE BEGGINING OF THE MOVIE!!! I loved it so much! It is all I want. PLEEESE :(

The song you're looking for is called Main Titles. I'm not sure if I'll be able to send it, though.

Neither movie is completely accurate to the book, although the changes made in the original movie were far worse.

disgraceful.....i can't believe they even considered remaking it. and tim burton! for fuck's sake!Yeah, considering that the "original" was a cheaply produced, hour-plus long ad for a dodgy marketing scheme that fell through the cracks, how dare they attempt to remake it in the style of one of the most beloved film artists of our time. The nerve of the thing.
but Gene Wilder still owns. oh, Gene. :(

In...vein? You mean "In VAIN". And because you assume every single movie Tim Burton makes is great, I will not give you the song. I personally like only a few of his movies, and, in recent days, he seems to look like a beggar, dirty and unshaven. Sigh, Tim Burton is good, but he's not god.
EDIT: And what Ami said.

Huh. IMDB has the writing credits listed at "Roald Dahl (book)". Because I know for damn certain he did not solely write the screenplay.
And as for the rest of it; "Well, uh... that's just... your opinion, man".
I'm not ragging on the 1971 version (hell, the art director was a blood relative of mine), I'm just saying, stop being such a goddamn elitist about something that was a pretty negligible contribution to the film world in the first place. It was a glorified made-for-TV movie. Get over it.

It's weird when I hear people that are obsessed with Tim Burton and worship everything he's worked on. I'd say that my favorite of his is Hansel and Gretel, just because I've watched it so many times since I was born. Never seen Luau though, but I'm sure it's sitting around here somewhere.

See, like many people don't know of those, Uchan. Like me, I never even knew. Hell, I never really cared until now.

For the record, Ronald Dahl actually hated the original movie and said it was an insult to his book. That's why Tim Burton came along and made the movie the way it was supposed to be.
Do your research first, beavo.
Dude, the only really awesome things Tim Burton ever did were Batman and Batman Returns. Sure, he's made some films that don't totally suck, but the Batmans were the only films where he was actually excellent as a director. And yet Tim Burton fanboys almost never mention Batman when giving him their daily verbal blowjobs. It's a crime is what it is.

I haven't seen any Batman films. Not that I can remember, anyway.
Yeah. I like Tim's older stuff. Frankenweenie scared the crap out of me when I was little, but I still liked it. Nightmare is of course a classic, and I like it a lot, but I don't worship it or anything. (One of the background characters in Nightmare is based on my dad, har har.) It still kinda surprises me to see how popular it is. When I was little and still saw figures of it a few years after its release, I was really surprised. Now it's like half of Hot Topic.
Like I said, the Batman films were easily some of his best stuff. Not to mention Jack Nicholson in the first one.
Nightmare Before Christmas has become a kind of Napoleon Dynamite. Without all the hype it was an excellent film, but now every jackass on the street has a Jack Skellington shirt (or a "Vote For Pedro" shirt), and it's just lost the originality that made the film so appealing in the first place.

Napoleon Dynamite was eaten by consumers pretty fast, though. Nightmare is 12 years old, but only within the past few years has it gotten really popular with the gawthy crowd.
In a way, that kind of makes it even more of a loss. It had such a great thing going, what with the cult status and it actually being a pretty good movie, and then Hot Topic took away the appeal it had held for almost 12 years.
HOT TOPIC RUINS EVERYTHING

I watched wily wonka and the chocolate factory again and I actually liked it. It's just not a good kids movie. I like the tim burton one better though.
Burton's worst movie is probably planet of the apes, but I'm probably the only person who thought it was an ok movie.
The new Charlie definately had a more stylistic feel to it, but Johnny Depp as Wonka? And after Gene Wilder did the original? I just don't get what's going on in our friend Tim's head.

He was good in sissorhands. And it's got to be pretty hard to replace gene wilder.
I never saw Scissorhands, so I can't judge there.
But anyways, EXACTLY. There is only one man in Hollywood today who could have met, if not exceeded the standards set by Gene Wilder, and that man is Jim Carrey. Instead, Tim Burton picks the guy who played Ed Wood.
I just don't get it.

Well, he's got an established history with that actor. I wouldn't be surprised if that was partially decided for him.
dude was marilyn manson not one of the choices considered for wonka?
because i don't even listen to his music and i know that would have been fucking rad.As awesome as that would have been, there is no way Warner Brothers would let him into a movie targeted at kids.
Besides, he's not really an actor anyway.

He wasn't considered, but he did want the role.

guys, whatev. johnny depp did willy wonka perfectly, and as hilariously cruel gene wilder played him, it was a bit inaccurate. willy wonka's weird in the book, he's weird in the new movie.
Yeah but what was with the whole retarded backstory? It was like the whole movie was about Willie Wonka's oedipus complex.
