There they are, my precious little headphones. Oh, how I loved them. It seems like just yesterday I was using them to watch Sin City on my computer. So many moments we shared together... The good music, the bad music, the laughter, and the tears. Just today I was about to listen to one of my favorite CD's, when suddenly I realized they weren't quite fitting as they should. I take a look, and much to my surprise, part of the casing has been broken off! I think to myself that I can still wear the headphones somehow until I could have them replaced. So, I tried adjusting it so it could fit on my ear. This turned out to be a bad idea. The more I struggled, the more the casing broke off. Now, they are completely unusable.

='(

Goodbye, my little friend.

Honestly, I break my headphones so often, that I've mostly given up on them. I broke my last pair last night. :(

And I already made my mom buy me some new ones around when school ended. It think it's a bit too early to ask for some more.

I'll probably need to settle for a pair that isn't $150.

It always sucks when a pair of headphones break. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you, and I am even more sympathetic for you since the only kind of headphones I get are the dirt cheap kind (So I don't have to worry about taking them places or sleeping with them on).

And I thought I was being careful enough with them, too. Oh well, at least they weren't Bose headphones.

Dude, Epoxy and a clamp. Get some good two part epoxy at the hardwaree store ($7.50) and a clamp to hold the pieces togeather ($10). Save yourself the $150 and epoxy your headphones back togeather for under twenty bucks.

Sony's suck anywayas. Get some AKG's.

Sony products look and sound fantastic. I find they tend to last 92 days on average. It's always so annoying when your expensive electronics make it less than a week past the warrenty. Talk about fantastic design!!!

If you shop arround you can find some nice, although not spectacular, headphones in the 30-40 dollar range.

Fix the bolldy things. Hell, you can even screw and glue them. Get a small sheet of Aliuminum and drill clearance holes for #0-80 screws. Match drill and tap #0-80 threads on your ear-phones. Epoxy your earpones togeather and screw the pieces togeather with the Al strips and the #0-80 screws. Glue and screw, glue and screw.

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to fix them myself, even if they can be fixed.

I didn't know that "pretty" and "sounds fucking marvelous" were supposed to go hand-in-hand.

Oh wait, yeah, Sony/Pioneer. I forgot. :robot:

Earbuds suck ass.

Anyway, is there a possibility that I could use glue or something to fix this? If not, I may get these (http://www.dsmiller.com/html/Electronics-Headphones-Mini-Full-Size-Headphones-HD-515.htm) headphones.

Yes! <i>Epoxy</i> glue. It's not like you're going to be able to do it with Elmers or something.

Damn you young whippersnappers and your lack of fix-it know how.

I had one of those little fishes that isn't supposed to live past more than about 6 months, and the little guy died like last week. That was, of course, after the son of a bitch clung to life for well over FIVE YEARS despite the filter breaking and the water becoming a stagnant mess of his own filth. I think he thrived in death, as he would ruthlessly kill any other fish we placed in the tank. Seems odd that a fish can last for 5 years, and I can't get a pair of headphones to last more than a few months before one of the channels gets busted. (I think because I'm so clumsy I always end up tugging a wire apart, thus causing a loss of functionality in that channel.) And, though I know it wouldn't be too hard to fix them, I am extraordinarily lazy. Also I usually utilize such happenings as an excuse to get less shitty headphones.

In summary: I want wireless headphones.

I think I may get these (http://www.nugadgets.com/products/ProductDetails/4.2267.1.html) actually, they seem to be better than what I have now anyway.

They design the headphones to break easily and they are designed to fail shortly after the warrenty expires. It's called planned obsolesence. If companies produce quality products, people would not need to go buy new ones. So, they design consumer products to break after whatever period of time the focus group says they need it to work for inorder to buy it. Ever notice how American cars won't run past 100,000 miles no matter how well you maintain them? This forces you to go buy a new car every ten years. Chevys could just as easily run for 300,000 miles like a Toyota or Honda, but Chevy wants more frequent repeat business.

Hey, I just found a crappy pair of Radio Shack headphones that will tide me over until I get my new headphones. Everything sounds muffled and stoopid, but it'll have to do.

Those Seinhausers are about as much as a decent pair of AKGs cost, and the AKGs look a lot better, since that seems to be an issue for you.

PS: don't buy headphones unless you've heard what they sound like. Go out and see if you can find a place that'll let you listen to them before you buy. You may be really surprised at how some of the cheaper ones sound. For example, my throw-around Phillips heaphones cost me a whole whopping $20 and they're goofy-looking as hell, but they sound amazing for how much they cost. I use them in all of my low-gain devices, like my iPod and whatnot, because the AKGs I have are about 20-30 years old and need a lot of juice to work properly (don't worry, the newer AKG 240s work with a lot less juice, so they can be used in low-gain devices), so I have to run them through my Sherwood amplifier. But Goddamn is it worth it.

i've had a pair of those sony headphones that go behind your head for about eight years. they haven't even a crack. and that's after sitting on them, stepping on them, throwing them around in my bag, dropping them everywhere, and winding the cord tight around them(and chewing on the cord like a nut). and they still sound great. i've only had to replace the foam covers on them.
aaaand they were about $20.

Aha yes. I had me some fine good Sony headphones once upon a time. I even dropped the things into water, but they survived all the unspeakable abuse I could throw at it. For a few years at least. But everythinge else has broken within a few months, cept perhaps fro my iPod headphones. They just might last... a while.

Anyway. Headphones without all the awful wiring would sure be good and convenient, says I.

Tape and solder. When I got my headphones, one of the speaker cups had come disconnected, so I had to solder the wires back together.
