LAME. Nobody got my reference to 'Day of the Dead' and now my topic's been deleted. Frickin' V posted crap ten times as meaningless as me and it didn't get deleted...
Anyway. I wanna talk about zombie movies in here.

I watched some zombie movies last night. <3
Which ones?
My favorite zombie movies are Return of the Living Dead and, I guess, Dawn of The Dead. (Original or Remake, they're both good)

Old Dawn of the Dead and The Last Man On Earth.
Though, Last Man On Earth confused me. It seemed more like a vampire flick then zombie. Garlic, stakes, mirrors, shit like that. I didn't finish it so I don't know what happened.
I never saw Last Man On Earth.
I really wanna see Shaun of the Dead. It looks awesome.
I think it's weird zombie movies don't scare me but ghost movies do.

I had a zombie dream the other night. I was hiding out in Cory's mansion in the middle of the woods. For some reason there was a lift under his bed, which when you pulled a leaver rose all the way up through an opening in the roof, kinda like zim's. It was pimped out!
I keep thinking there's a zombie under my bed.
Makes bedtime a little creepy.

I need to see Original Dawn of the Dead. It looks like the best Zombie movie ever and I haven't seen it. :(

The effects are surprisingly good for the time period and the music is awesome. Heehee...

I know the main song from the movie, the song in Robot Chicken and Shaun (which, by the way, is third favorite movie.)
My friend says the zombies in Dawn are laaaaaaaame. Prove him wrong.
Which Dawn? The original?
In Dawn they're funny and more realistic to the zombie genre, as well as social commentary about consumerism. In the remake they're super awesome and scarier, but not as realistic.

Well, I saw the new one and enjoyed it for the XTREEM and the Richard Cheese, but the old one sounds good to me just for the realistic zombies and the scalped helipad guy.
I like I like I like I like I like I like the music. And the effects. And the lines were pretty good.
Mostly I just like zombie movies, dammit.

Early this week I woke up and hallucinated a bit (call it a 'night terror' minus the terror).
I saw a ghost thing in the top corner of my room. It looked like an underwater blood cloud with a hollow face (eyes and mouth sunken in like a membrane was covering it). It elevated as my eyes moved up to focus on it, then disappeared as my vision returned to normal.
I smiled and went back to sleep.
Now for something semi-relevant: I like the music in 28 Days Later.
PS: The Mummy Returns is a fucking stupid movie. The first one shits all over it.

28 days later is really the only zombie movie i've ever liked. i can't sit down and enjoy movies that are bad just because they're bad. i don't know how cults like that come into existence.

And I fourth the Shaun of the Dead love.

Land of the Dead was pretty cool because it goes into how the zombies behave after they've been zombies for a while. I like the idea of them slowly remembering who they used to be.
Edit: PS, Hostel's a pretty fucked up movie.

Hostel sucked. The first time around, it was a gory shock fest. I managed to summon the courage to watch it a second time... mediocre typical horror flick with no plot and all flash.

Argh.
"Hey boys and girls, does pointless torture make you happy? Yeah? Then lets do it again!"
Just like Saw II totally fucked the concept of Saw for me. LOVED Saw, Danny Glover as some insane cop kicked ass, but Saw II... bleh. Lost all the goods.
EDIT: Btw, Ill fifth on Shaun of the Dead. Ive got him as my background here at work, huge bloody cricket bat over his head. Land of the Dead was also impressive, and Im happy Romero is all gungho about a sequel (a Land of the Dead 2 that continues those characters, not another Dead movie set x number of years later).
28 Days Later, however, is by far the best Ive seen. That there is a truely desperate situation, and those 'zombies' scared the shit out of me. Plus, it was a lot more tense and I could identify a lot more with the characters, running around with no access to firearms in a world like that... shit.

Yeah, movies like Saw and Hostel are only good the first time around for the gore and shock value. After that they're pointless the watch because you already know what's going to happen. 28 Days Later however, will always be awsome. It's a really cool and original take on how one becomes a zombie. More specific then alot of other movies where they're just "Oh I got bit, now I am one." I like the bio-virus aspect too. And how it was only actually taking place in an isolated area.

I also like how they had like, 20 seconds to either kill the person or leave them behind. None of this 'ill just pretend im fine and eat my friends later, when i become a zombie, because i didnt tell anyone i was infected' that is in EVERY GODDAMN MOVIE.
And the part with her father getting the blood in his eye made me very sad. But I kind of liked the ending where Jim didnt live... felt more poetic.

I haven't watched it in ages. I should do that now.
Also, the fact that the army had some wild "repopulation" plan made me laugh.

Zombies dont die after 28 days cuz thier so angry they forget to eat.

Can zombies die naturaly or do they just keep wandering around forever untill someone lops off their head? They never really tell you what happens to them.
Komrade Kayce
04-22-2006, 09:43 PM
I didnt think it was because they forgot to eat. In 28 days later, its because the rage virus didnt force them to 'eat', it made people crazy beyond comprehension. Someone like that couldnt farm, grow crops, get food, etc. Its what the army guy played by Christopher Eccleston was saying.
But you're right, its not a real 'zombie' flick. More of a monster flick.
I dont think zombies can die naturally. I think they just continually rot until theres not enough left to move.

I like the way 28 Days Zombies puke to attack people. If I was a zombie I'd be puking on people non-stop.
NO. :mad:It sucked big time, Trogg. Pygmy mummies are cool, but constant stupid "here we go again" catch phrases with lame characters and inferior CGI made it a shit movie. The first was a horror/comedy, and was good. The second was action/stupid, and was a cash-in.

I can't tell if this is a troll or if you never saw the movie or if you just really didn't pay any attention to it at all.
I never saw 28 Days Later, but from what I've heard it's not a zombie movie. The director himself said it wasn't for one thing, and the people in the film who are infected are actually still alive, right?

04-23-2006, 08:15 AM
Since everyone has their own 'rules' for zombies/vampires/werewolves in movies, it doesnt matter if it's rage, the T-virus or hell having no vacancy - 28 Days Later is classed as a zombie movie.
Komrade Kayce
04-23-2006, 08:16 AM
Yeah. The whole thing was actually a metaphor for aids...
Technically, there is nothing 'dead' about any of these people. They're just driven by such an intesne feeling of rage (hence the name of the virus) that they want to do nothing but kill everyone non-infected.

I really enjoyed 28 Days Later, since being British and seeing London completely deserted is a fairly creepy experience no matter how many times you see it. It also honed into a lot of the angst the UK was feeling around the time with mad cow disease and things. The island of diseases and angry people. It's a truly masterful concept carried off with much aplomb.
Ariel hated it, which gives me all the more justification to like it more. And Eccleston rocks, so it's all good.

It's not a zombie flick, but The Stand kicks all kinds of ass. Bio-disaster movies are neato.
Also, it's funny cause Satan has a mullet.
