View Full Version : Man weilds broken bottle
So, I was involved in the aftermath of an aggravated robbery last night (which I posted <a href=http://annemjw.livejournal.com/92503.html">here</a>, but basically a small dairy-type place was held up by a guy with a broken bottle, and me and my friend walked into the shop about 10 seconds after he'd gone), and the policemen who were involved made the weirdest mistakes.
-The guy on scene, after asking myself and a friend what we had seen, didn't actually wait for us to answer.
-After making us leave (as you would, crime scene and all) he didn't get our information at all, a second policeman just happened to ask around and my friend was still waiting for her bus.
-I got a cellphone call today, as Aimee had told the police my number, in which a male (I couldn't make out his name, because the message was crappy) gave me a 6 digit landline number, which didn't work, of course, because NZ numbers are seven digits, and I had to go out of my way to get in contact with the police.
I still haven't, the extremely patient and nice women on the phone at the police tried their best, but without an officer's name it was hard. I have to call back tomorrow. But man, they really could have done better.
(I have to say, I am never letting myself be in the position of being alone at a place of work like that at night. The poor woman behind the counter was terrified, and she was only a trainee, not a good move on the store's part.)
Anyway, thought I'd share.

a broken bottle? that's almost as absurd as the cup of bleach lady.
so, what were you doing at a dairy place in the wee hours?

Was anybody hurt, or just shaken up?
I think it is good that you're still willing to help even though the police screwed things up and made it hard for you.
It wasn't really wee hours, twas only 9.30 at night. I was actually walking home from choir. The woman was fine, although I was the one who asked her that, not the cop, which was just bad management, but yeah, she was freaked out.
Yeah, well no word from them yet, so I'll have to keep calling back I guess. I hope they catch the guy, I might go back and ask the people about what's happening.

just curious, but why are you trying to contact them? i thought you missed the actual robbery?
It's more because they called me first. I honestly have no idea what information I could possibly have, but I have no idea. It's more the principle of the thing really.

If cops down there are anything like the swine we have here. Just forget about it. They will never catch him. I even had foot prints from the people that broke into my house on my dusty heater and they still couldnt do anything.

When the cops screw something up people say their job is so difficult, but I don't buy it.
I think I complained about my mom getting her car stolen on the board. I was really worried that it was stolen, but it turns out she just forgot where she parked, and found the car a few hours later. But she had reported the car stolen, and she didn't report it unstolen for a whole week. In that time my mom went BACK to the parking lot she reported it supposed to be stolen from twice. I had to go with her one time because my mom won't let me stay home alone even though I'm 18 and I've never tried to burn down the house or anything. A security guard came up to me when I was sitting in the car. I was terrifed that he was going to say I had a stolen vehicle and that he was going to arrest me, but he just told me to move the car because it wasn't in a parking space. I explained that I had to wait for my mom to get back because she had the keys. He seemed annoyed and said he'd stand there and for me to leave, but he didn't wait at all, he just drove away. ???
When my mom called and reported that she'd found the car a week ago, they got really angry at her. "The state police have been looking all over for this car!" Yeah right.
I have a theory that they get cops to match the criminals, and the criminals around here are stupid. It seems like the don't get good cops until there's a lot of crime in the city.

they have so many stolen cars, it's not like the po-pos memorize every single one and its license number, and usually when a car is stolen, the villain/s don't just hang around so unless the cops want to memorize every single stolen car in the nation... Them boys with that stolen truck were panhandling with it for 2 weeks before they got busted, which was only after a gas station owner called the cops on them for panhandling at his gas station.

Maybe I shouldn't expect them to find a stolen car in a week, but I'm angry at how they have to be so dishonest. I really don't think the state police where looking for the car. And I don't understand why the security guard said he was going to wait and then he left.
Almost every time I've encountered the police they make my problems worse.
Someone with a long standing feud with my uncle that the police had known about before this happened burned down my uncle's house. The guys who did it where seen by a neighbor walking to my uncle's house with gasoline and they where scene lighting it on fire. Somehow they where sent to jail for 4 years, but they were not charged with attempted murder. I only found out about this today because I read an article about it, even though it happened a couple years ago. I niavely assumed those kids where charged with attempted murder. What else could it be? They knew it was his house.
My dad had trouble getting a job because he and his friend where arrested as a teenager. His friend was being drunk and loud, my dad didn't do anything, and the judge lied and said it would not go on my dad's record. It was on his record so it took the people who where trying to employ 9 months to do whatever it is that they do to make sure he is not a criminal.
After my dog got in trouble the dog officer blatently lied about my family saying things like we'd refused to put up a fence when the fence had been there my whole life. He'd been to our house, he knew the fence was there. When he was at our house he kept his hand on his gun the entire time like he expected us to attack him or something. My dog is a poodle, it's not that scary, and he was locked up in another room.
Speaking of poodles, several years ago somebody's crazy little toy poodle ran into my house, attacked my mom's hand, and hid under her bed. She called animal control and told them about the dog. She explained the situation to the dog officer, but as soon as she told the him the dog was a poodle he REMOVED HIS GLOVES and stuck his hand right under the bed, where the dog was. The dog attacked his hands and he threw a fucking hissy fit. "Why didn't you warn me?!" She warned him very clearly, and there was blood all over her hand when he got there.
A police woman destroyed my dad's truck by running a red light. Ironically she was on her way to a crash scene. They lied and said something about the sun being in my dad's eye. She ran a red light!
Ok I'm done complaining.
They actually seem to have caught this guy, he goes into court tomorrow morning for sentencing. They caught him Friday morning after he stole a Jaguar in Masterton (believe me, a stolen Jaguar in Masterton of all places is not inconspicuous). The police called me on Saturday nigth just as I was going out to a friends 18th, and then I went in today and gave a statement. So yeah, all sorted as far as that goes (and on the assumption that the guy they caught is the guy who did it, but the guy they pciked up was on the run rom various other crimes as well, so he'll be up for some justice, in any case).
It's kinda nice that it did get sorted, and the detective I spoke to was a hell of a lot better than the beat cop who showed up as far as professionalism goes (I told my mum about the first guy, and she was appaled. Keep in mind that my mother is a registrar of a court, and at one point the the registrar of the highest courst in the country. She certainly knows cops).

keep in mind that security guards aren't real police officers. they're faux police.
