I don't know if this is a common deliberation around the country, or what, but here in VT there was some serious talk about lowering the age to 18.

Didn't work out though. Federal Government would have taken away highway funding, and if you've ever driven here, God knows we need it.

yes ma'am. at my school, the dorms are deemed "private residences," so they used to allow anyone to have any amount of liquor in their rooms. (they recently changed that though--last year--so it's no longer valid if you're under 21. you just have to keep your liquor in cabinets, since they're not allowed to look inside closets/drawers/refigerators etc if they search your room.) does UNO have a similar policy?

new orleans is like ridiculous for obtaining liquor anyway and everyone knows it. why bother having laws. :robot:

so they can get highway support from the government.

yeah, it gets weird though, when I go over to someonelse's house when I dont really know their parents. I ignorantly expect their parents to pour me a glass, but they usually dont, (im only 18) so then I ask them, but they usually just stare at me and ask me if im joking.

i've learned never to do that. adults easily get the wrong idea.

besides, i'm no wino. i don't have to have a glass if its around.

im not either (I hope I didnt imply I was), but its become seccond nature, and in a way - customary - to have a glass of wine with dinner for me. that is, unless I take home some KFC or something. then...yeah...

Alcohol is really unappealing to me... I guess I may be in the minority?

Spleenazor

hmmm i dont know. I really cant stand beer (unless its a guiness or something) and I've never gotten plastered from drinking wine. I dont drink for the alcohol, but for the taste and great accompynment that wine makes to almost any meal.

I guess I hate the whole culture thing that's attached to it, if that makes sense.

I hate parties where the sole purpose is getting hammered, and I think that some people that base coolness on drunken escapades to be a little silly (sorry reef).

Spleenazor
08-05-2006, 07:26 PM
yeah, I understand completely. still though, wine (when drunk responsibly) is a great addition.

I enjoy watching others in a state of total drunkenness more than being drunk myself. Besides, if it isn't flavored like apples or some such nonsense, I have a hard time drinking it.

Yeah, my mom had me look it up today because she bought some wine coolers that she knows I love, and my dad isn't as cool about it. So we found some proof.

Yeah LA was the last state to change it from 18 to 21. Some bars still have the 18 signs still up and just have it scratched out. I've seen one with "JK" by it, but I don't remember where.

ha ha!

I had a dream last night finite went to take her Zoloft(?) but instead of water she took it with a tall glass of vodka.

I was like, "no, not again!"

and then...

I don't remember what happened. In fact the only reason I remember that part was my memory was triggered by this thread.

We are seeing the FUTURE, I say: "Moosecon: MIAMI. Coming to theaters in 2008."

Yeah, I never went out and drank underage, just because I hated the idea of being out somewhere and not trusting my own judgement and albilities. Plus I tend to be the sober person who takes care of the drunk people, cause I'm an idiot who likes my friend's saftey too seriously.

Still, I bought some nice Smirnoff apple vodka about 3 months after I turned 18 (again, the legal age here), which is still half full, even after my friend came over on friday and just deicided to drink a whole lot of it. It's surprisingly good, though very very sweet.

Also, you guys really need to take a videocamera to your next moosecon.

I like the taste of wine that isn't dirt cheap, but I hate being drunk. I don't need extra headaches.

It seems like they raised the drinking age to prevent 18 years olds from buying beer and distributing it to all their friends, but it's weird that no state has made a comprimise of 19 or 20. It's always 18 or 21. What happens at age 21?

BreadObama69

you immediately become miraculously mature.

I mean just look at the board members who have reached that age.
