FOR THE SUMMER: I plan on this friday to vist my best friend in Pennsulvania for 3 months and get part job and enjoy the scenery! Can't wait! :D
MY LIL' DUCKLING: My family got this actual living baby duck as a pet. Before they got one I didn't know they can be actual pets. I named it Quackerz. I just wish I can take it with me but I can't.
BUT HERE IS SOME PICS OF HIM SWIMING IN OUR BATHTUB there not too clear but Quackerz can't hold still for beans soo these will have to do. ..

It's adorable! Read up all you can about them, and make sure s/he is taken care of. But I know you will. :)
Speaking of which, do you know its sex? There's a way to tell, but it's hard from just looking at that age.

I will, since my friend has computer I can mooch from, with his permission of course.
EDIT 4 Chakan: Quackerz actually was gift for my mom from my dad. So it's hers to take good care of. But she let's me hold it and gives it lil' snuggles and feeds it wheat bread like we do at the park with the other duckies. She also let me named it.As for the sex, I really don't know, I call it he but that's until I know for 100% sure..
*smiles*
you can probably find high quality duck food at any sort of farming store

The only thing we have in New Mexico is pet smart and petco. As friendly as they are alot of them are, They usually don't even know anything about the animals they do sell, and they only sell the food for the only kinda animals they give out as pets. (not ducks, at least in NM anyway :( )
EDIT: I'll just have to see if Quackerz would like to eat bird seeds. and find the best and affordable kind for my mother to buy. (It's really her pet after all so she should be the one to purchase it. ) :(

Where in PA?
Also, went ahead and smalled up your pics a bit because holy fuck scrollbar.
If I had a duck, I'd name him Howard. And I wouldn't feed him bread because apparently that's bad for duck's stomachs.
The end.
but surely there is agriculture in mexico.
surely. Check your phonebook?
Feeding your pet ducks:
* Ducklings need a feed with 20-22% protein for the first three to five weeks. After that, they do best on a feed with 16% protein. Adult ducks need about 14-16% protein when they aren't laying, 16-18% when they are laying.
* Game bird starter feed is a good source of feed and can be found at most farm supply stores. After five weeks, game bird grower should be fed to the ducks.
* Do not feed chick starter; it does not have the right nutrients. It can cause deformities in growing ducks.
* Ducklings also need a source of fresh chopped vegetable greens, especially when they are kept inside. You can feed them weeds from your garden or purchase mixed greens from your grocery store.
* Never feed your ducks without providing them with plenty of water. Ducks use the water to help them wash down the food and clean the vents on their beak.
* Mix the feed with cracked corn when the ducks are adults, especially in the winter. Cracked corn is easier for ducks to digest than whole corn.
* Bread, popcorn, and chips are not healthy for ducks. Consider them "junk food" for ducks.
* Ducks can also be fed chopped hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, bugs, garden snails, worms, night crawlers, mealworms, bloodworms, and floating koi food.
oh man where in Pennsylvania are you going?
because if it's one side of the state you can visit Koba and if it's the other side you can visit me!
I had chickens once. For a few days. Wonder what ever happened to them.
If I had a duck, I'd name him Howard.
God.

On feeding for Q: I freaked out immeditaly after you guys said bread is not good for him. So needless to say, I copy Vile's post on Microsoft Word and printed it for my mom so she's can feed him properly while I'm gone. Until we get the right feedings at a farm store (It turns out there is one in Valley Dr. in the Las Cruces area that my mother sees alot) I'll just feed it chopped green veggies and boiled eggs in her water dish. Also, sorry about the pics. It wasn't a clear picture of Quackerz so I tried to make big. :o
About PA: I'm staying in Harrisburg. Is it too far for any of you guys? :(

its a duck klein. not a delicious thanksgiving dinner.
Don't be ridiculous.
Everyone knows you eat Turkey at Thanksgiving.
(Although I would not eat him, Happy, because he is adorable and besides which it's quite possible that they use a whole different breed of duck for eating [though I have no idea and can't be bothered wikipedia-ing to find out]. Duck is pretty delicious though.)

yeah, we got those chickens in new mexico at a feed store. we must have been no more than an hour away from where happy lives. there are certainly feed stores there.
hey keith, do you remember what we named them? bill and somethingorother, right? bill and orla?
It was. Um. One was named after a location we had visited recently, so yeah Orla sounds about right. Wait, all I can find on Wikipedia is Orla, TX, which is a ghost town. I don't recall anything of the sort... but maybe there was another orla I can't find.
Was the other one bill? Didn't they both have kind of odd names?

Being away from home is good.
There's lots of neat caves out in the middle of the state kind of near Harrisburg. You should check them out.

ugh. starbucks.
I'm not saying that to be cool. I genuenly hate their coffee.
it all tastes burnt to me.
NZ is pretty good, coffee-wise. This, you understand, I know from none of my own experience, but rather the experiences of people I know who have actually gone overseas and come back home to 'real coffee oh thank god'. Nevertheless, apparently we know what we're doing.
Which does not mean we haven't escaped the all-knowing eye of starbucks, but at least we have other options around.

I don't have a problem with it because of things people say. I just think that a lot of their things are a bit too plastic. And rubbery. And most of the (expensive) clothes I've bought there fell apart.
