So what d'we do with this thread now?

I for one would like to voice my complaint about how places like Jamba Juice and Cold Stone Creamery force you to order normal food substances using ass-like names such as "Razzmatazz" (raspberry smoothie) and goofy shit like "love it" and "like it" in lieu of size names like "medium and "large." The latter terms I still doggedly refuse to use, by the way. If for the sake of speed I reduce myself to saying "I'd like a Razzmatazz smoothie," I'm at least going to retain a shred of dignity and call it a medium Razzmatazz. God damn it. And I will not acquiesce when they suggest, "an I love it Razzmatazz? Fuck that shit.

On the brighter side though, I finally got my retarded roommate to stop putting polystyrene in the microwave.

I was gonna suggest lighting it on fire, but this is good too

I refuse to abide by their naming conventions. I will steadfastly order my food in either small, medium, or large sizes until the day they dig me out of my hidden desert compound and place me in a state facility.

And yet, the barista always, ALWAYS responds, "you mean venti?"

I just never eat at those places.

Problem solved.

Yeah, you would do that. Nonconformist.

Does anybody have an opinion on PinkBerry getting busted for being full of industrial fillers and then being bought out by Starbucks a few weeks later?

My opinion: LOL

wtf is PinkBerry?

Oh yeah, that's right, they're only on the West coast right now.

Sometimes I forget that there is such a thing as a LOCAL soul-sucking chain store.

Pinkberry is delicious frozen yogurt. It's good for you, because it's yogurt and you put fruit in it!

What they neglected to inform their customers of, is that it's made of soylent green. There isn't much actual yogurt-product to be found in the stuff.

MST3Kakalina
05-26-2008, 05:21 PM
Y'all need Rita's out there. I don't know about soul-sucking, but it's local. Also, not made of soylent green.

Stone Cold Creamery and Jamba Juice seem to be the only sources of cold drinks out here. I'd never heard of either of them until I found myself suffering of extreme thirst in the summer heat one day, thinking, "boy could I ever go for an ice-cream based beverage about now." The only place listed on the mall directory was Stone Cold Creamery, which I figured either had to be an ice cream place or a porn shop. While ultimately I was pleased to have a chocolate "milkshake" to reduce my core temperature, honestly I wouldn't have been crestfallen should the alternative have proven true.

Oh also I hear tell that employees at these places need to sing their gratitude if you tip them. Aren't there laws against that sort of shit?

Oh god, how demeaning.

I actually rarely ever tip at those places (yes, I'm aware this makes me an asshole), just because it is SO humiliating to have to watch the employees being egged on by their managers to sing "TIP HIP HOORAY" or the ever popular "Jamba Tip Jingle" every time someone throws 75 cents in the jar.

As if being stuck in a minimum wage job slinging food product for pissy yuppies wasn't enough.

Havent seen it yet. Might when I get my paycheck.

However, The Dark Knight will rape Jones' ass in the box office.

Might easily be a better movie but I will bet you any amount of real life money you care to wager that this is not the case.

Not even counting the Heath Ledger sympathy vote? This.

I'm not sure it will do better than Indie, but I think it will draw a larger audience from morbid curiousity to see Mr. Ledger in his final role.

um actually its really awesome that theyre going for a joker thats realisticly scary instead of relying on the burton caricature nicholson portrayed or the gimmicky fanservice jerk-off that was the TAS joker. that was a pretty weak troll tho, leaned pretty heavy on a muddy generalization. try harder nubbin.

What's this about Pinkberry? I was pretty addicted to it for a while, though I usually find myself frequenting the ripoff places in Koreatown because it's essentially the same stuff for considerably cheaper.

Oh, it's not just yogurt? That's not really surprising. What about the Starbucks thing?

i was pretty thrilled when i saw the first real preview for dark knight and saw that the joker was creepy as fuck. i'm gonna be all over that shit.

it's toss up between Indiana Jones' fan club and people's morbid curiosity. the box office race will be close.

Yeah, I just heard yesterday that Starbucks gave them like a $25mil boost, but I guess the old owners still have majority stock in the company? I guess this actually happened right around the time the coffee flavor showed up, so they've been part-owned by Starbucks since January at least.

Ah, CNN has something about it.

Urchin
05-27-2008, 07:35 AM
Yeah, I wonder how much involvement the original owners have at this point. Supposedly Pinkberry itself is a ripoff of some Korean frozen yogurt chain that's been around a while. What a smart business decision it was to bring it over here, geez.

The coffee flavor tastes pretty horrid.

Don't get me wrong I was looking forward to this film more than the jones but

My parents see approximately two movies in the theaters a year but they managed to go to see this one within a week. A PG-13 or R rated batman just doesn't have the same draw, nor does Heath Ledger.

I love the whole realistic angle they're going for. Not sure how well it works for two face but I'm sure the acting will be good at least.

Not sure how well it works for two face but I'm sure the acting will be good at least. There was a supposed mockup for Two Face floating around where he appeared horribly burned and charred. It looked pretty cool but I can't say if it was legit or not.

um the 18-25 demographic represents a huge part of the movie audience

i don't know, klein. a lot of people in that age bracket have been like "it's going to be lame and not worth my money, i'm going to wait for the rental/$2 theater." harrison ford's age (and the fear that he might be lame and washed-out) probably deterred at decent portion of that age group.

True dat. I mean, speaking as a person who has, in fact, written a 12 page (with bibliography!) paper on the history of The Batman alone, this has the potential to actually make a semi-engaging character of the Joker, sans the Cesar Romero levels of goofy villainy we've become accustomed to.

Then again, I haven't watched Batman cartoons on TV since the first Bruce Timm one. Did those have any good Jokers in them, or were they still just zany and obnoxious as all hell?

The Joker from 2005's "The Batman" cartoon series was pretty darn onboxious. Stupid voice, outlandish design that looked nothing like the comics, and overall the animation style of "The Batman" was pretty shit too.

I liked TAS Joker. I thought Mark Hamill portrayed him pretty well.

I liked how TAS handled a lot of Batman's other villians, too. Clayface and Mr. Freeze come to mind.

A 12 page paper? Damn, Josh would be all over that. ;)

I'm looking forward to the movie. More than Jones. I just think Batman has a darker, trickier storyline and that intrigues me more than the Jones' stories do. If it were any other superhero flick, I'd say I'm looking forward to Jones more.

I wasn't enthused by Heath Ledger at all, but I've been hearing he did a great job with it so adunno, I guess I'll just wait and see.
