I bought a bubble trumpet at a garage sale for a quarter, so I could blow a bunch of little bubbles in my brother's face. I couldn't afford NOT to buy it.

and also one of these: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/Takker/471341126_178e5d44d2.jpg

I used to have them when I was a kid, and I think they're swell :) for anyone who doesn't know, it bends and makes shapes and stuff.

Yay shopping while sleepy and with relatively large amounts of cash! I regret nothing except the food though, and that's just because of principle.

70% of people never actually go into the field that they majored in

Anne
08-07-2008, 04:12 PM
Nah, education's just cheap here. Well, I got a $500 'scholarship' coming out of my final year in high school for being good at the England, but I spent that on a digital camera, 'cause I could. I had a couple friends who got $6000 over three years for getting three scholarships though, which they said was useful.

We also have a student loans scheme that has no interest as long as you don't leave the country for too long, which is good. So far my parents have paid for my undergraduate, but I'll probably need to borrow $5000 or so from the government for my post-grad teaching degree next year. And, you know, enrol for that and all.

Yeah, I don't know how good my education actually is, that being said. I basically coast and get B+'s (case in point being the essay that I am writing right now that is due in 6 hours, which I started this morning), but I don't know if that says more about me than the system.

I don't know for sure that I'll end up in English or Classics as a field exactly, but a B.A. is pretty much meant to be flexible, so I'm not too fussed.
