considering the population distribution of america and of the board as a whole, the most statistically correct answer is soda.

Soft drink and fizzy drink are the only names that fly here.

I call it soda, which conforms perfectly with Klein's nifty map there.

I always thought it was a midwestern thing to call it "pop"; a southern thing to call it "coke". However, now that I see a vast percent of the "northern hemisphere" of America agrees with us, I'll just assume it's the East Coast/West Coast/South that's weird.

wondering what the "others" are - besides fizzy drink.
A cousin from western pennsylvania asked me to "give him a pop" once at a family event when i was around 8, so i punched him in the face. still not speaking to me.

Everyone down here calls it 'coke'.
Takker

I think calling it coke is gayer than pop. if I want a sprite, why would I ask for a coke? it doesn't make sense.

I had to learn to say soda back when I lived in California for a few years. when I first said pop, my friends looked at me like I was a retard. not so, here in Chicago.

why isn't soft drink on there? most people here call it that, if not soda, or coke.
people who call it pop are either form Ontario, or beaten into submission until they conform to soft drink.

i call it pop, but when i'm hanging out with people who aren't local, i'm usually aware that it sticks out, so most of the time i catch myself and say soda instead.
i've never referred to anything other than Coke http://z.about.com/d/inventors/1/G/N/U/RT.GIF as "coke."
